We’ve been tracking Amazon Prime Big Deal Days since yesterday but the shopping bonanza is almost over. So here’s your last call to pick up a cool Android phone.
We’ll start off with the Samsung Galaxy S24 trio – seven years of support, all the AI you can want and one of the best Android skins. The S24 is among the smallest Android flagships, while the S24 Ultra has one of the best cameras (and the unique S Pen). The Ultra in particular is under $1,000, which is still pretty rare.
Alternatively, you can grab a OnePlus 12. There’s a new generation coming out in China soon and it will take a few months to reach the US. Still, this is a great price for a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and an LTPO display. The 12R is probably the cheapest phone with an LTPO display at $380 and the SD 8 Gen 2 is still blazing fast. 128GB storage might be a bit tight, though (but the same applies to the base S24).
The curved screen and faux leather back make the Moto Edge (2024) look fancy. The 5,000mAh 68W/15W battery is pretty good too, but the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 isn’t.
Next we move over to foldables. The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold6 has all the Galaxy AI features but is fairly pricey. The OnePlus Open is getting old, but it uses the same Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chip and you get very capable Hasselblad cameras (50MP main, 64MP 70mm tele and 48MP ultra wide vs. 50MP main, 10MP 66mm tele and 12MP ultra wide on the Galaxy).
Finally, a selection of flip foldables. We start with the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip6 – it gets you long term support and plenty of AI features.
The Motorola razr+ (2024) and razr+ (2023) are not quite as capable, but they are cheaper.
There’s also the Motorola razr (2024), but we would probably pick the razr+ (2023) instead – it’s $50 less and has the better chipset, even if it’s older.
And if you want a cheap flip foldable, look no further than the Motorola razr (2023). It’s more of a mid-ranger, but it is priced like one too at just $350.
