Canon Rumors Your best source for Canon news, rumors and more

A recent article from Business Standard reported on Canon’s strategic expansion plans in the Indian market. The report touched on several subjects, as Canon sees India as an emerging large market for Its equipment, from medical systems to semiconductor fabrication equipment. Business Standard sat down with India President and CEO Toshiaki Nomura, and we included some of the quotations from the article here.

One of Canon’s key industry focuses is the semiconductor industry, where Canon has been actively negotiating with Indian manufacturers to supply lithography equipment. Canon’s involvement in this sector assists India’s growing need for semiconductor manufacturing.

A lot of Chip manufacturers are eyeing India as a new manufacturing place. We are discussing with all those chip manufacturers to give our product and service. This is a “good opportunity” for us.

Canon’s equipment is used in various applications as not all semiconductors need to use ASML’s EUV machines.

We are installing the equipment for them to manufacture chips through our technology and the product. We help chip manufacturers build a strong facility in India. Once the chip manufacturer sets up the facility in India, we will install our equipment and through our excellent product and the support we can contribute to Indian semiconductor industries

Beyond semiconductors, Canon is expanding its presence in the Indian healthcare market. Canon recognizes the increasing demand for healthcare services and the growing affordability of healthcare within the Indian population. Canon aims to capitalize on this expanding market by offering a wider range of medical equipment and solutions.

The potential of the growth of healthcare business is huge. We want to tap those. Our presence is small, but in Japan, we are one of the biggest manufacturer brands for the diagnostic product range, such as CT scans, MRI, ultrasounds and X-rays

Canon is bullish regarding the Indian market, which is evident in its plans for continued growth. These plans include expanding its product offerings, strengthening its distribution network, and increasing its presence in smaller cities across India.
